No Mountain Too High!
June 30, 2007, 10am to 7pm

Karibou (Come in/Welcome in Swahili),

I really hope to see all of you and your families at the BBQ on June 30th at the Dunrobin Community Centre. Take a look at the flyer as well as all the info about the exciting ‘IDOL COMPETITION’! (This has just been updated June 9th, so take a look.) Look for us in the local media…

The planning team has been working extremely hard since January to ensure that everyone has a wonderful time. We are preparing for at least 1,000 attendees. Advanced tickets are now on sale by calling me at 613-720-4599 or by sending me an e-mail. The price of admission includes entry to the grounds, live entertainment and a chance to win any one of the fabulous door prizes (you do not need to be present to win).

Help us pay for deposits, supplies, rentals, etc. by buying your Admittance Ticket before the 30th and you will pay only $20.00 for a family of 3 or more; or $8.00 for singles.

At the gate the prices go up to $25.00 for family; or $10.00 for singles. Seniors (65+) or groups of 10 or more get a really good deal at $7.50 anytime.

Some of the entertainment that’s confirmed is Emily Vinette to open the Idol Competition and Jessie Farrell and we’re working on a lot more but we have to leave some surprises for you. Plus we will be creating our own Kili Idol. Who knows where that could go!

You can also help by posting the flyers where appropriate and letting people know about the Idol Competition (space is limited so register ASAP). Both are also available in French just let me know if you would like them sent to you.

We are also in desperate need of volunteers for the day, half a day or even a couple of hours. Please let me know of any groups or organizations that we could contact or approach.

For those of you not from the Ottawa area, this is a perfect opportunity for you to visit the nation’s capital and celebrate Canada Day on the Hill after a fun-filled day in Dunrobin, of course.

Come out and help us achieve our $20,000 goal – Be a part of it!!!

Here are some specific, yet ball-park figures of how $20,000 might be spent. This will be disbursed by the Stephen Lewis Foundation to grassroots projects in conjunction with their African partners. Just to give you an idea about how this money could be spent and how many lives could be touched, here are some possibilities:

1 malarial treatment for 100 kids 500.00
2 anti-malarial bed nets for 100 families 800.00
3 antiretroviral for 20 adults or 10 small children for 1 year 6,000.00
